Brenda Nyatanga, MD

Dr. Brenda Nyatanga’s journey into medicine was deeply personal: sparked by the loss of her father to a heart attack at a young age. That life-changing experience fueled her passion for cardiology and her commitment to prevention, early detection and compassionate care. She now dedicates her career to helping patients safeguard their heart health and avoid the kind of loss her own family experienced.

Dr. Nyatanga joined UnityPoint Health because of the organization’s mission of compassionate, high-quality care, values that closely align with her own. She felt immediately welcomed by the team and was drawn to the opportunity to serve a community where her expertise could make a true difference.

At her clinic, Dr. Nyatanga sees a wide range of patients, from those managing chronic conditions like coronary artery disease and arrhythmias to individuals focused on prevention due to family history or lifestyle factors. Known by her patients for being thorough, empathetic,and detail-oriented, she values trust and open communication in every patient relationship. Her goal is to ensure patients feel heard, informed and confident throughout their heart health journey.

Outside of work, Dr. Nyatanga enjoys spending time with her husband and their two energetic sons. She also finds joy in traveling, listening to music and attending church to recharge and stay grounded.
